AABn Armored Assault Battalion (Philippine Marines)
AAR Army Artillery Regiment. See: PA activates Artillery Regiment
ABC Approved Budget for Contract. This refers to the maximum amount that the government is willing to pay for an item that has been opened for bid. Any potential bidder that exceeds this amount is automatically disqualified. It should not be confused with the actual purchase price of the item.
ADM Acquisition Decision Memorandum. An instruction issued by the Office of the Secretary of National Defense to proceed with an acquisition

BDE Infantry Brigade. Parent formation of army Infantry Battalions (IB). Usually headed by a COL
BDU Battle Dress Uniform
BER Beyond Economical Repair. This is reached when the cost of repair approximates the cost of replacement.
BGEN Brigadier General (1-star). Equivalent to Commodore (COMM) in the Navy
BIAF Bangsamoro Islamic Armed Forces
BMAC Basic Marine Aidman Course. Training program for Corpsmen (combat medics) of the Philippine Marines.
BRP Bapor ng Republika ng Pilipinas (as per NPRO DF dated 29 May 1980). Defense publications use “Barko” in lieu of “Bapor”. Supercedes the term Republic of the Philippines Ship (RPS).

CAFGU Citizen Armed Force Geographical Unit
CARAT Cooperation Afloat Readiness and Training, a bilateral naval exercise conducted between the Philippine Navy and US Navy to enhance interoperability, coordination and cooperation of both Forces. It may be complemented by an amphibious operation exercise. The US also conducts these exercises with other nations.
