Marcos says Sara Duterte wants the job of Defense chief

MANILA, Philippines — Presidential aspirant Ferdinand Marcos Jr. on Monday said his running mate, Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio, wants to head the Department of National Defense (DND) should they clinch the victory in the May 2022 elections.

Marcos Jr. admitted he was surprised when Duterte-Carpio told her she wanted to serve in his Cabinet as Defense Secretary. However, he thinks it is a good idea.

If she will win and given a chance to be a Defense chief, I am hoping she'll fast track the modernization program of AFP which so many projects delayed for many reasons.
