The nominees of 1Sambayan for president and vice president are:

Chel Diokno, lawyer (Liberal Party)

Grace Poe, senator (Independent)

Vilma Santos-Recto, Batangas 6th District representative and deputy speaker (Nacionalista Party)

Leni Robredo, vice president of the Philippines (LP)

Antonio Trillanes IV, former senator (Magdalo)

Eddie Villanueva, CIBAC representative and deputy speaker (Bangon Pilipinas)

Of the six, only Trillanes have so far announced his presidential bid, but he said he would give way should Robredo decide to run for the post.

The rest of the nominees are yet to officially announce their 2022 electoral bids, but have committed to be a part of 1Sambayan’s selection process to choose a single slate of national candidates who would defeat the administration bets in 2022.

Senator Panfilo Lacson was also among the politicians 1Sambayan wanted to include in its presidential nominees, but he declined since several convenors are against the controversial anti-terror law that Lacson had co-authored in the Senate.

The 1Sambayan coalition on Sunday, June 13, defended its list of nominees to serve as the opposition's presidential and vice presidential candidates in the 2022 elections, saying it had "no expectations of firm decisions" just yet from politicians who were named.

Of the six, only Trillanes has so far announced his presidential bid, but said he would give way if Robredo decides to run for the post.

Robredo, the leader of the Philippine opposition, earlier said she is keeping her options open – from running for president or running for Camarines Sur governor to even taking a break from politics.

Minutes after the coalition announced its list, Poe said she had no plans to run for president again in 2022, while Recto also turned down the nomination. Both lawmakers said they wanted to focus on their legislative duties now as the country responds to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Diokno said he was "honored" to be considered by 1Sambayan, but said he has not been aspiring to become the next president or vice president of the Philippines.

Villanueva, meanwhile, echoed Robredo and Trillanes' call for unity in a recorded message played during the 1Sambayan Independence Day program, though his son, Senator Joel Villanueva, said their family "was not interested" to mount a presidential bid.

Aside from the six nominees, Senator Nancy Binay and Manila Mayor Isko Moreno were also being considered for the list, but both wrote letters to 1Sambayan asking that their names be removed.

1Sambayan is breaking up

When the so-called 1Sambayan, led by retired former Senior Associate Justice of the Supreme Court Antonio Carpio, was launched, I said it was bound to fail. Santa Banana, while they call themselves oppositionists, the people behind it each have their own separate agenda.

The far left’s agenda is not to oppose the Duterte administration but to form its own government, being just fronts of the communist movement.

The far right’s agenda is to rid the country of the communist movement.

My gulay, what kind of coalition is that?

MANILA, Philippines — The candidates of opposition coalition 1Sambayan for the 2022 national elections may be named by late September, its lead convenor said Friday.

He said that the coalition is putting up chapters across the country and abroad, conducting town hall meetings, and recruiting partners.

The coalition also reached out to Senator Panfilo Lacson to be among its presidential nominees but the lawmaker declined, saying his participation “will be construed as lack of propriety on my end in light of your prior pronouncements suggesting that my representation will be a ‘stumbling block’ on your political endorsements.”
