MANILA, Philippines – Iloilo International Airport, Mactan-Cebu International Airport, Clark International Airport, and Davao International Airport made it to the online travel website The Guide to Sleeping in Airports' top 30 best airports in Asia for 2016.

Iloilo International Airport ranked 12th, while Mactan-Cebu International Airport was at 14th, Clark International Airport at 15th, and Davao International Airport at 26th, among the airports surveyed by the travel website.

This marks the first time the Davao airport made it to the list, while the airports in Iloilo, Cebu, and Clark all moved up in ranking.

"lloilo International Airport is, at the moment, probably the best-looking and most efficient airport in the Philippines," a traveler quoted in the survey said.

Cebu’s P17.5-B resort airport to open in July

CEBU CITY—The world’s first resort airport will be opening its doors soon.

The P17.5-billion Terminal 2 of the Mactan Cebu International Airport (MCIA) is set to be inaugurated on June 7.

Ferrer said the resort airport would start commercial operations on July 1, as stated in their concession agreement.

Terminal 2 is expected to increase the airport’s passenger capacity to 12.5 million yearly.

It will cater to inbound and outbound international flights.

The new terminal spans 65,500 square meters and was designed by Hong Kong-based Integrated Design Associates (IDA) together with local designers Budji Layug, Royal Pinda and Cebu’s very own Kenneth Cobonpue.

GOOD NEWS: Resurfacing of Mactan Cebu International Airport’s main runway is now COMPLETE! 🇵🇭

This project, which was initiated and implemented by the Department of Transportation (DOTr) and the Mactan Cebu International Airport Authority (MCIA), includes 3420m X 60m overlay, replication of all runway markings, raising of 109 runway centerline lights and 33 rapid exit centerline lights.

According to Mactan Cebu International Airport Authority (MCIAA) General Manager Steve Dicdican, the MCIA runway resurfacing project costs PhP255M, and was implemented from September 1-21, 2018 (1:30am-6:30am daily closures).

Time of runway closure was coordinated with stakeholders to ensure minimum flight disruptions as mandated by #DOTrPH Secretary Arthur Tugade.

The project involves the construction of a new world-class passenger terminal building in MCIA, with a capacity of about 8 million passengers per year; and the operation of the old and new facilities. The construction of a new world-class passenger terminal, including all related facilities, is proposed to separately cater to domestic and international operations.
