President Rodrigo Duterte on Saturday said he is expecting more help from China for the Philippines through the "One Belt, One Road" initiative.

"So I expect that I can... get something out of it, but maybe more help to develop my country," Duterte said in a press conference after the closing of the 30th ASEAN Summit in Pasay City, referring to China's "One Belt, One Road" plan.

"One Belt, One Road" is Chinese President Xi Jinping's landmark program to invest billions of dollars in infrastructure projects including railways, ports and power grids across Asia, Africa and Europe.

Duterte underscored the importance of the initiative for the continent "because it starts here in Asia."
