One of my favorites from last year: The blame game

It's the President's fault . ..  it's Congress fault . . . it's the mayor's fault . . . it's the church's fault . . . it's the < insert third-party here >'s fault . . . blame, blame, blame, blame . . .

. . . just don't blame me.

Part of the video shows a Philippine-flagged ship that social media users have since identified as a Type 054A frigate, a type that China's People's Liberation Army Navy has been using since 2007. A photo of the Yueyang, a ship of that type, appears on the Wikipedia page for the frigate.

PTV has yet to respond to a request for comment but the video is no longer available on YouTube.

PTV apologizes for use of Chinese-ship photo in PHL Navy story | GMA news - August 8, 2018 1:06am
Quote
The government television network People's Television Network, Inc. (PTV/PTNI) on Tuesday apologized for its "inadvertent" use of a Chinese vessel photo in its August 5 "Ulat Bayan" story on the government's plan to send a Philippine Navy ship to Libya to help kidnapped Filipinos.

"Please be advised that the video editor responsible for downloading and using the said photos without proper verification has already been sanctioned," PTV News said in a statement. "Consequently, other PTV News producers and editors have likewise been warned against making similar mistakes in the future."

The PTV report had used a picture of a Chinese Type 054A frigate with a Philippine flag doctored on to the ship.

That was an FB group that I ran — solo — with an account that got blocked. Learned from that fiasco and now I have co-admins drawn from veteran Timawans.

Venezuela's president urges women to have six children each 'for good of the country'

The comment sparked outrage in the country where a deepening economic crisis is felt across society. Venezuela’s central bank said inflation reached nearly 10,000% last year, while shortages from basic foodstuffs to medical supplies are widespread.

Child malnutrition is estimated at 13%, according to Unicef.

Venezuela’s government has not published infant mortality figures since 2017, when a health ministry bulletin revealed that 11,466 children had died the previous year – a 30% jump in infant mortality.

The crisis has caused around 4.5 million Venezuelans to flee, with 1 million children left behind.

China joins UN Human Rights Council panel despite troubling record, response to coronavirus

China has been criticized over the way it handled the coronavirus outbreak, with the U.S. and others accusing the communist country of a secretive approach that punished doctors, threw out reporters, suppressed information and ultimately downplayed the seriousness of the virus -- leaving the world blindsided and unable to adequately respond to what later became a global pandemic.

The body said that China will now play a central role in picking at least 17 human rights investigators, including those looking at freedom of speech, enforced disappearance and arbitrary detention -- all rights that the Chinese regime is said to have violated.
