PS36 and BA 494 transport relief goods to Balut Island

Naval Forces Eastern Mindanao through BRP Apolinario Mabini (PS36) and Multi-purpose Attack Craft (BA 494) in coordination with Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG),Davao Occidental transported a total of 6, 422 relief goods to Balut Island last June 9-11, 2020.

The said relief goods were loaded to PS36 utilizing the San Miguel Coal Power Plant (SMCPP) pier last June 9, 2020. Aside from the relief goods, the working party composed of uniformed personnel from Provincial Government Office (PGO) of Davao Occidental; Provincial Social Welfare & Development (PSWD) Davao Occidental; 73IB, 10ID, Phil Army; PNP (DOCPMFC) and Malita BFP were accomodated.

In order to have an organize, systematic and safe conduct of the activity, Commodore Antonio C Palces AFP, Commander, Naval Forces Eastern Mindanao activated Naval Task Group (NTG) Sarangani. Said NTG compose of BRP Apolinario Mabini (PS36) under the command of Commander Lemar R Dela Calzada PN(GSC) and Multi-Purpose Attack Craft (BA 494) under of its Officer-in-Charge Lieutenant Junior Grade Reymart U Daduya PN.

The NTG Sarangani arrived at Balut Island in the early morning of June 10, 2020, and immediately started unloading the goods utilizing the Ambulance boat of the municipality of Sarangani for ship-to-shore movement of cargoes and passengers.

On the other hand, BA 494 ferried DILG Provincial Director Debbie T Torres together with 14 LGU Personnel from SMCPP Pier, Malita to Port of Mabila to fetch Hon Virginia Cawa, Sarangani Municipal Mayor for the supervision of distribution of relief packs to recepient barangays of Balut Island.

The mission was officially terminated upon disembarkation of the LGUs back to SMCPP, Malita, Davao Occidental in the afternoon of June 11.

This was indeed another opportune time for Naval Forces Eastern Mindanao (NFEM) to be instrumental in the successful accomplishment of the mission of our LGUs especially in the immediate safe and expedient transport of food packs and ferry of personnel. This endeavor gave assurance that NFEM is always ready to respond and serve our Filipino people not only in Territorial Defense Operation (TDO) but also in Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Response (HADR) Operations.
