Dingdong Dantes says he's a Marine reserve
Published April 7, 2008 11:59am

Two years na akong reserved force ng Philippine Marines, part ako ng technical service battalion composed of doctors and lawyers among others. Civilian support kami, but militarized. Nag-training ako for that, kahit community service ang aming ginagawa, we have to be trained. But for now, mostly medical mission ang kanyang ginagawa. "No, part of my commitment is to serve regardless of what will happen. "I grew up in a family of military.

Dingdong Dantes talks about being a Marine Reservist on Men's Health Philippines

Unknown to many, Dingdong is actually in the Philippine Marine Reserve corps. He enlisted in 2006 and trained for over a month. Ten days were spent in the Philippine Marine Corps Basic School in Cavite, where Dingdong's Men's Health cover shoot was held.

Ten days of intense activity was no joke. You wake up at 4:00 a.m.., and are subjected to mental and physical challenges until the early evening. The Kapuso actor didn't mind the difficulties and, in fact, recalled the experience fondly. "We experienced what [the marines] really do. Sa umaga, sa hapon, with the chant and everything, training, lahat yan," he said with a smile.

Cesar Montano, Rocco Nacino enlist as Naval Reserve Command reservists
Published August 22, 2019, 11:31 AM

In South Korea, military enlistment is required for male citizens in accordance with its constitutional mandate of national defense.

But while not compulsory in the Philippines, a number of celebrities have taken the initiative to do the same.

Gerald Anderson, Erwan Heussaff Nico Bolzico, and Diether Ocampo are members of Philippine Coast Guard Auxiliary (PCGA).

Matteo Guidicelli, on the other hand, was recently promoted as second lieutenant of the Philippine Army.

Following in their footsteps is Cesar Montano.

The actor and former Tourism Promotion Board (TPB) chief operating officer enlisted himself as reservist of the Naval Reserve Command of Philippine Navy
