Burned during the ceremony were faded, worn, and torn Philippine flags collected from various groups, institutions, and individuals in the city. The ashes were buried on the building’s front lawn.

According to Section 14 of Republic Act No. 8491 (The Flag and Heraldic Code of the Philippines), a flag worn out through wear and tear will not be thrown away but solemnly burned to avoid misuse or desecration.

We will recover as one!

DO YOU KNOW HOW TO PROPERLY DISPLAY THE PHILIPPINE FLAG?

https://www.facebook.com/photo/?fbid=392269159610104&set=a.228485992655089

The flag is the country’s most cherished symbol. It is the nation’s emblem for freedom. It symbolizes patriotism, love of country and sense of nationhood and embodies the aspirations and sentiments of the Filipino people in their unceasing quest for independence. It stands as instrument of unity that binds the Filipino people. The Philippine national flag when display should comply in accordance to Republic Act (RA) No. 8491.
