Lawmaker, soldiers safe after chopper crashes in Tarlac | CNN Philippines - November 22, 2018

The Philippine Air Force said 12 people – including Deputy Minority Leader Anthony Bravo, some soldiers, and congressional staff – were on board the Sokol helicopter when it crashed around 2 p.m. at Colonel Ernesto Ravina Air Base, also known as Crow Valley.

A helicopter carrying a party-list congressman crashed into a cliff in Capas, Tarlac on Thursday afternoon.

The Tarlac police confirmed that a helicopter crashed at a military reservation camp in the province.

To recall, the Philippine Air Force (PAF) purchased eight Sokol Helicopter from Poland worth P2.8 billion in 2013, as part of its modernization plan.

On August 2014, a Sokol Helicopter crashed in Lanao Del Sur where then 4th Infantry Division Commander Ricardo Visaya was wounded. Visaya eventually became a Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces of the Philippines.

On November 8, 2016, the PAF leadership grounded the Sokol Helicopters after another unit crashed in Puerto Princesa City, Palawan where 12 persons were reported injured.  With a report from Radyo Inquirer   /kga

Baybayan said the aircraft, a PAF Sokol helicopter with tail number 923, was carrying eight passengers and crewmen, including Rep. Anthony Bravo of COOP NATCCO party-list.

"Kasama si Congressman Bravo, yung secretary general ng House [of Representatives], tapos ako, tapos may iba pa," Baybayan said. "Bale walo kami."

He said the chopper was one of the two carrying attendees to the AFP Legislative Stakeholders Engagement from Tridoc in Capas to the Crow Valley Gunnery Range.

Manila - The Philippine Air Force said Friday it has grounded all of its Sokol helicopters after a chopper carrying a lawmaker crash-landed in Tarlac.

Air Force spokesperson Major Aristides Galang said the move is only a precautionary measure while investigation is ongoing.

Air Force probes air mishap in Tarlac - November 23, 2018, 5:41 pm

MANILA --- The Philippine Air Force (PAF) is now probing the actual cause of the air mishap involving a W-3A "Sokol" helicopter Thursday afternoon in Tarlac.

Initial reports said the accident took place as the helicopter, with tail number 923, was on its final approach for landing at Sitio Durongawan, Crow Valley Gunnery Range in Tarlac around 1: 40 p.m. Reports were not clear as to the cause of the mishap.
