US pledges USD300 million in security assistance for Southeast AsiaA department fact sheet said the funds – announced by Pompeo at the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) regional forum on August 4 in Singapore – are intended to improve the US’ security relationships across the Indo-Pacific region.It added that the military aid includes USD290.5 million in Foreign Military Financing (FMF) to strengthen maritime security, humanitarian assistance/disaster relief, and peacekeeping capabilities, and USD8.5 million in International Narcotics and Law Enforcement (INCLE) funds to counter transnational crime.
