These new trains are the manifestation of a decision that was made 2 years ago and the implementation of the strategy and transport policy. It is a milestone for PNR and a manifestation of a strong leadership of GM Junn Magno, the PNR Board, Secretary Arthur Tugade and President Rodrigo Duterte and the ardent support given to PNR by its development partners in the Legislative and Executive branches of the government since the PNR was able to procure trains from General Appropriations Act (GAA).
These trains are the first of the 3 classes of trains of PNR from Indonesia. On 2020, more trains will arrive to complete the 37 coaches and 3 locomotives. PNR expects to carry an estimated of 100,000-140,000 passengers per day and extend its coverage to be able to be of service to more passengers at an economically viable cost.
