It would probably be helpful if we had a link to the list of ships already in service in this thread.

Just sayin'. ;)

That said, since the Emilio Aguinaldo class was decommissioned, BRP Emilio Aguinaldo and BRP Antonio Luna are currently free.

Even though it goes against the established naming convention, the idea I've been floating since the project started was to name the two ships Rosario and Encarnacion, after the two Filipino-manned Spanish galleons that fought off multiple Dutch fleets in the series of battles known as La Naval de Manila.

Instead of Dutch ships, these two frigates may have to fight off multiple PLA Navy ships all by themselves.

 Using BRP Iloilo would not follow the current PN Naming Convention practice of naming surface combatants after Heroes. The reason a PCE was named BRP Iloilo is that it was commissioned at a time the PN was naming all of their ships after places in the Philippines. The practice of naming surface combatants did not start until the early- mid 1960ís . BRP Iloilo was commissioned into PN service in 1948.

Personally, I think given the asymmetric nature of the historical battle being referenced I think those names would be more appropriate for submarines.

As previous announcements by the CinC to give notice and honor bisaya heroes. Steong contenders would be those from visayas or mindanao. Datu Bago being one, would a Boholanon hero be one? BRP DAGOHOY.

Dagohoy together with Lapu-lapu was already used in BFAR MMOV vessel

i take a look at how we named our ships and have noticed that:

a. most of the ships are consistent with their naming convention e.g. Batillo & Yap class being named after Korean War Vet or those named after Cities, Provinces, Lakes, Tribes, etc.
b. in the Jacinto class however, the names are pretty mixed up because while both Jacinto and Mabini came Fil-Spanish war, Ricarte who came from the Fil-American war was mixed in
c. same for the the Del Pilar class, both Del Pilar & Bonifacio came from Fil-Spanish war but Alcaraz came from WWII
d. i tried to find connection between Campo & Navarette for the ex-USCG Point class, however i cant find entry about Abraham Campo & Alberto Navarette in google

am i knit picking?  ::)
