The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) is looking to acquire more body cameras to be used by ground troops in future wars or armed engagements against terrorists and other enemies of the state, especially in urban terrain settings just like in Marawi City.

In an interview, AFP spokesman Major General Restituto Padilla, said that during the Marawi conflict which lasted for five months, members of the media often requested for live action footages of the conflict.

He added the use of body cameras is also one way for the military to document and study their previous engagements against the enemy.

Padilla said newly acquired body cameras would also be used by training units in future exercises especially in military operations in urban terrain.

He said body cameras was previously used during the rescue of a wounded soldier that was executed in the main battle area inside Marawi City

The AFP spokesman, at the same time, said that body cameras can also be used for future reference in case there are complaints against soldiers engaged in armed confrontation.

A good COTS solution would be the GoPro Session cameras which remove the small display in favor of reducing camera footprint. If a suitable mount could be found, these would be good, hires cameras for the job the AFP wishes to fulfil.

Correction, already found on the OEM's website, no less.
