TODAY: PRRD to hand over 3,000 units of caliber .45 pistols to AFP as fulfillment of his promise of added protection to Filipino soldiers. | via Sweeden Velado

Reportedly, part of the funds for the original project was used to fund the Armscor RIA .45 cal purchase as an emergency measure. The remaining funds would go to a 9mm acquisition.

Looks like the AFP order was for the double-stack TAC Ultra FS HC model, but with the plain low-profile sights and rubber grips.

A bit large for daily carry, but I suppose if the troops are allowed to open carry it might be less of a problem.

The TAC Ultra MS would fit more of a carry/defense weapon for off duty soldiers. The FS is just too big.
