Amick (DE 168) Building and Operational Data:

07 January 1943: Keel laid at the Federal Shipbuilding, Port Newark, N.J.
27 May 1943: Launched and christened, sponsored by Mrs. Mary R. Amick, widow of Ens. Amick
26 July 1943: Commissioned at the New York Navy Yard, Lcdr Francis C. B. McCune in command
03 January 1946: Arrived in Jacksonville, Fla. for pre-inactivation overhaul, then to Green Cove Springs, Fla. where she served as receiving ship
16 May 1947: Decommissioned at Green Cove Springs, Fla. after 3.8 years of service
14 June 1955: Loan to Japan, renamed IJNS Asahi (DE-262), returned to USN control in early 1975
15 June 1975: Struck from the NVR
13 September 1976: Sold to the Philippines, renamed BRP Datu Sikatuna, struck and scrapped in 1989

PF-5 was PF-77 before re-numbering
shown here in Jane's fighting ships 84-85 edition
