(posting for reference based on data from the old forum)

PhilStar article dated 02/04/16:

Quote
MANILA, Philippines – The Philippine government has signed a deal with an Israeli company for the purchase of three air surveillance radars worth P2.68 billion...

The Department of National Defense (DND) and Elta System Ltd. signed the contract for the project last Dec. 21, documents seen by The STAR showed.

The letter of credit, a document that assures the supplier that the Philippine government has money in the bank to pay for the radars, was opened in the third week of January.

Under the contract, Elta is supposed to deliver the first of three radars within 22 months after the opening of the letter of credit.

Janes article dated 02/08/16:

Quote
The Philippines Department of National Defense (DND) has contracted Elta Systems, a subsidiary of Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI), to supply its ELM-2288 air defence and air traffic control radar.

DND spokesman Peter Paul G Galvez confirmed to IHS Jane's on 5 February that the contract is valued at PHP2.68 billion (USD56 million) and features three ELM-2288 radar systems...

ADAS Sep 29, 2016: report from Shephard Media on the PAF LR-ADR acquisition (also mentions elm2032 fcr of PAF FA-50s):

https://mags.shephardmedia.com/ADAS/ADAS0216webmagppm/pubData/source/ADAS-02-16-webmag.pdf

Quote
A $56 million contract for three ELM-2288-ER over-the-horizon air surveillance radars was inked with Manila on 21 December but only publicised earlier this year. IAI Elta Systems must deliver the first radar within 22 months of opening a letter of credit, which occurred in the third week of January.
...
The FA-50PHs are equipped with Elta Systems ELM-2032 multi-mode airborne fire control radar.

of interest to note is that this report from ADAS 2016 specifically mentions that it is the ER variant (60 row array antenna, ">430 km" detection range on fighter sized target) which is being acquired by the PAF...

official web posting of the re-activation of the 580th ACWW:

07 November 2016

After more than a decade since it was downgraded on April 1, 2005, the 580th Aircraft Control and Warning Group has been reactivated to 580th Aircraft Control and Warning Wing (ACWW), signifying a milestone in the PAF history. The formal ceremonies included the symbolic furling and unfurling of Unit Colors, led by the Commanding General, PAF, LTGEN EDGAR R FALLORINA AFP, held at Wallace Air Station, San Fernando City, La Union on November 03, 2016.

and the part I liked most (emphasis mine):

The occasion was also made more significant with the imminent arrival of a new set of radar equipment, opening up new defense capabilities and weapons systems.

I wonder how compatible the Russians are with Israeli equipment like these ELM 2288 radars?

^you mean like getting s400... I haven't read of any info online for using an elm2288 to provide the cueing to the 92N6 "Grave Stone" fire-control/missile-uplink radar of the s400 system...

normally if you buy one fire unit of s400 (consisting of a 92N6 radar and a group of subordinate TELs) this would come with a 96L6 "Cheese Board" search/acquisition radar as well which would provide the cueing for the 92N6 engagement radar...

if instead we bought a whole s400 battery (ie. up to six fire units) this would come with a 91N6 "Big Bird" which can delegate up to six targets each for each of the subordinate 92N6 engagement radars...

I haven't read anything of replacing either the 96L6 or 91N6 search/acquisition radars with an elm2288... since the 92N6 engagement radar communicates with it's "controlling" search/acquisition radar via RF data links I suppose using an elm2288 would mean some sort of developmental item to bridge from the elm2288 tracks to the 92N6 data link...

(all data from: http://www.ausairpower.net/APA-S-400-Triumf.html, yes the infamous site of Dr. Kopp, lol)

"Big Bird" search/acquisition radar shown in top row, right side
"Grave Stone" fire-control/missile-uplink engagement radar show in middle row (above the TELs)
"Cheese Board" search/acquisition radar shown in bottom row, left side

teasers  ;D

(courtesy of "Luis Manchochito" on the Timawa FB extension)

center is at Wallace, outermost ring is approx 450+ km from center:

if they do place an elm2288-er at Wallace, the old fps-20 there can truly rest in peace now, lol...

in the "teaser" pic posted by "Luis Machochito" in the timawa fb extension as shown a few posts above, one will note the similarity of the airspace monitor display to the following image from PAF's "ADW Journal (Sep 2013)":

(this image was taken from one of the ADW air defense exercises - ADEX)

more teasers from the FB extension:

EL/M-2106NG transportable 3D short-range (100 km instrumented) radar at Wallace... this is the so-called "gap-filler" radar which was offered as part of the procurement contract for 3 units of the EL/M-2288 long-range radars...

here comes PAF into the modern era of 3D solid-state air-defense radars... about time :-) more good times ahead... (am not counting the "secretive, infamous, mercurial" AR-320 since that used a TWT power amplifier in it's transmitter, hence is not full solid-state)...

SIPRI confirmation of selection

From: http://defense-update.com/20110613_iai-to-unveil-a-new-air-defense-air-surveillance-radar.html

< Edited >

The new model, designated ELM- 2288, follows Elta’s operationally proven family of air defense/multi-mission radar systems that include the ELM-2080 “Green Pine”, the Anti-Ballistic ARROW Defense System Search, Acquisition and Fire Control Radar and the ELM-2084 Multi-Mission-Radar family. more traditional, rotating system. Utilizing solid state S-band transmitters, the radar provides 3D long-range surveillance. Designed for rapid deployment, the new radar can be transported by air, sea or ground by folding its antenna on its shelter roof.
