BRP Carlos Albert (PC-375) - Jose Andrada class
« on: January 21, 2017, 02:13:41 PM »
From Combat Fleets of the World, 15th Edition

First four were ordered in 9-89 for $9.4M; the fifth was ordered in 4-90 and three more in 8-90. In 3-93 Halter received a $36.2M contract to build four more in the U.S., provide four kits to a yard in the Philippines, and assist in the construction three more in a Philippine yard; in 6-94 another 12 more ordered for $27.5M, with seven to be built by AG&P Shipyard in the Philippines. DF-379 and 380 were launched 29-4-95 by AG&P. The original goal was 35 total, but that curtailed for lack of funds. Were originally intended to operate in flotillas of seven, each attached to a larger patrol boat acting as leader.

Team WESCOM Intercepts 34 Suspects for Illegal Fishing near Malampaya Platform

https://www.facebook.com/wescom/photos/a.308629875935847/1187375751394584/?type=3&theater

#TeamWESCOM's Navy vessel BRP Carlos Albert (PC 375) intercepted a fishing boat with 34 Filipino crew onboard at vicinity 8 NM East off Malampaya Natural Gas to Power Project (MNGPP) platform on 23 October 2018.

Reports from Joint Task Force Malampaya that reached WESCOM Headquarters stated that while conducting maritime patrol, PC 375 spotted the said boat identified as Andrea-3 and intercepted it inside the interdiction/neutralization zone from the MNGPP Platform at around 12:35 PM.

After inspection of the fishing boat, it was revealed that its crew were using illegal fishing by method of gear requiring diving and compressor. PC 375 brought the boat to Liminangcong Pier, Taytay, Palawan for turn-over to the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) and proper disposition.

"This apprehension is a clear example of Western Command's firm resolve to ensure that maritime laws are upheld in its joint area of operations," said LtGen Rozzano D Briguez, the WESCOM Commander.

"Team WESCOM continues to conduct maritime security patrols and support to maritime law enforcement in Palawan waters and vital installations, including West Philippine Sea, to ensure that our natural resources and rich biodiversity are protected for future generations," he added.
