U.S. may divert PH law enforcement aid | CNN Philippines - September 26, 2016
Quote
The United States may take back $6.7 million (₱322 million) in law enforcement aid pledged to the Philippines if the two countries fail to agree on how it will be used.

U.S. Embassy Press Attache and First Secretary Molly Koscina told CNN Philippines, “The $6.7 million in funds can be used only after agreement between the United States and the Philippines on their specific use. If no agreement is reached, the funds may be used in a country other than the Philippines.”

The $32 million pledge was announced during U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry’s visit to Manila in July. Presidential Spokesperson Ernesto Abella said it would come in the form of trainings and services to boost Philippine law enforcement efforts.

The major naval procurement programmes that form part of the Indonesian Ministry of Defence’s (MoD) procurement plan include the AS565 Panther anti-submarine warfare (ASW) helicopters, Chang Bogo-class tactical submarines, and landing ship tanks (LSTs).

With the majority of equipment and platforms being from the Soviet-era, Indonesia is investing in new hardware, as well as upgrades to replace old systems. The country’s defence market is valued at $6.97bn in 2016.

The Type 055 guided missile destroyer [cruiser] must be one of the most anticipated platforms in the Chinese Navy, apart from the aircraft carrier. By 2014 photographs of a radar test installation apparently associated with this programs had finally surfaced on the Chinese internet. It remains unclear whether the Type 055 would prove to be a 160-meter long DDG-57 counterpart or a 180-meter DDG-1000 counterpart.

In marach 2016 Chinese media reported that the 175-meter-long vessel would be outfitted with four new types of missiles, including medium-range air defense and antisubmarine missiles, as well as long-range air defense missiles and supersonic long-range anti-ship missiles. The Type 055 destroyers would also brandish long-range land attack cruise missiles and a sea-based missile interceptor. It would have ninety-six vertical launching systems, meaning the ship would not only be able to carry more weapons, but also larger missiles.

China building new Type 052D guided missile destroyer | taipei times - Aug 29, 2012
Quote
According to China military watchers, as many as 10 Type 052D DDGs could be under construction. If true, this would be a departure from past practice for Chinese shipbuilders, which usually develop one or two hulls and launch a series of tests before entering mass production. Analysts have speculated that Chinese engineers may have become confident enough in the subsystems used on the new destroyer to risk accelerated development.
