Politics and Government / Sen. Trillanes' amnesty declared void

Sir Adroth had previously asked me to see if CNOOC's position on the contract strengthened the hand of the Philippine Government on our claim to the EEZ by asking several international lawyers i knew (including my younger brother) on this matter. here was my answer...

Sir Adroth Singko, got their answer. And it's, Yes and No. No in the sense that CNOC could be looked upon as a private corporation, even if it is owned by China. As such, it's acknowledgement of the EEZ is considered non-binding to the Chinese government. Still, it does strengthen our case. They are all in agreement, however, that the UNCLOS ruling trumps even these agreements.

Sir A., Guys, sir A brought up the SAF several times as it's possible reintegration to the AFP to form a core for the PC . Let's not forget, people, that almost a third of the PNP is assigned to the Public Safety Battalions. This means you can have over 40+k personnel already trained as both law enforcement and light infantry on hand to form a viable core for possible PC reactivation that's already in every province.

General Discussion / Re: Duterte: I rejected Japan missile offer
« on: January 17, 2017, 06:23:14 PM »
heard from a source with the Office of the Press Secretary that the primary reason the Japanese proposal was rejected was not the Chinese, but the cost. bringing up the Chinese was a face-saving measure. as it was, the Japs were indeed offering SBMS, but at  $7million PER Type88 AShM missile, it was judged pretty steep.....

pardon my ignorance, but what does Airbus CASA bring to the table..

SOCATA is a subsidiary of Airbus which makes turbo-prop aircraft. their current trainer/light attack product is the TB30 Epsilon.

Sirius, try finding articles on Cols. Russel Volckmann and Wendell Fertig. Volckmann would lead the guerilla groups in Northern Luzon and Fertig would lead the guerillas in Mindanao. the two of them, along with Col. Aaron Banks, who served with the OSS in Europe, would form the troika whose experiences in WW2 would form the basis of the USSF (the Green Berets). they would go on to teach there. they were never given much credit by McArthur, and were permanently frozen at the rank of Colonel. this is against the fact that both of them actually led 30,000+ men (Corps size formations). maybe due to the fact that weeks before both got in contact with Pearl Harbor and reporting in, McArthur had just told the President and the American public that guerilla operations in the Philippines were not feasible at that time (1942-43).

Sirius, the AFP and the PNP have serious reservations about the QBZ. One of them being that the Gun is not ambidextrous, meaning that 15-18% of the AFP would have to undergo serious retraining to handle a Right Handed rifle.....

I am trying to look for the pertinent papers covering the deal, sir A, but from what i do remember from the deal, the radar in Clark was already specified from the start to serve a dual role both as Nav radar, and in a PADIZ role. unfortunately, my father-in-law's records from that year is a mess!
