That infamous door would have been a non issue, if the MG gun pod has been mounted on the windows, as what most Sokols in service with the other countries did.
Still no word on what happen to the one that crashed?

Or . . . had they just specified the model with the larger door. They reportedly didn't bother to ask.

On a somewhat related note: A few months back I got in touch with some old high school friends and it turned out two of their were with the PAF now. One of them was with the 5th Fighter Wing and the other flies the W-3. The latter was actually the pilot in one of those two crashes. (Apparently the first thing the passengers did when they realized they were all alive and well was take a selfie to commemorate their survival. :P)

Apparently the cause of the crashes was a maintenance issue: there was a procedure that needed to be conducted at regular intervals but wasn't properly conveyed during the training of the maintenance personnel in Poland (He speculated that it may have been because of the language barrier.). Another thing he shared was that there had seemed to be some difficulty in obtaining spare parts for the helos, at least compared to the other helicopters in the inventory.
